Ashamed
I did NOT have a good week.
Stress from the holidays, coupled with a sick child and re-arranged schedule which cut into my normal blogging time, and I was a bad, bad boy.
How bad?
I’m not sure yet. I haven’t stepped foot on a scale since Wednesday 2 weeks ago.
Yes, I missed the Wednesday Weigh-In!
Not intentionally, mind you. I was working on a project and attempting to get other stuff done and I crashed into bed late at night/early in the a.m. and simply forgot.
Now, I’m afraid to step on the scale. I ate without any regard for anything during the past week. I ate as if my stomach were on fire and the only way to put it out was to consume massive amounts of junk food!
To make matters worse, I didn’t work out – at all.
Fortunately, I’m feeling the appropriate amount of shame to get my butt in gear. And we also have New Year’s Eve coming up – time to make some resolutions!
See you on Wednesday, when we’ll see whether or not my horrendous eating caused my scale to break!
So, how did everyone else handle the Christmas week?

You aren’t alone for I, too, completely disregarded my intentions. Oh, the yin-yang of holidays!… Joyous celebrations, then some remorse… Sheesh! Will we ever learn.

There is some comfort in knowing I’m not alone, small as it may be.

Like Julie said, you are definitely not alone. Don’t beat yourself up too much, just get back in the groove again starting now, and look forward to a better week. Cheers!

Sometimes it’s just the way it is. Don’t stress it, just get back into the groove.
I finally weighed myself this morning to see where in the world I was weight wise after a stressful, eating indulged, and sicknesses to deal with so only 1 tiny work out kind of holiday. It wasn’t too scary. I figure post holiday weigh-ins are just a “reset”, not something to flog ourselves over.
Christmas only comes once a year. I hope y’all enjoyed it.

Funny you mention resets, as the original post title was “Can I hit Reset?”
But then I found the cute Polar Bear image and changed it up a bit.

Don’t beat yourself up over it David – I bet that most people (myself included) did exactly the same thing. I mean, it’s just rude not to eat all those chocolates/mince pies/biscuits, etc.

NOT GOOD! I stepped on the scale this morning and Oh.My.God. So, I immediately reactivated my account at fitday.com and am back to tracking intake and exercise.

Good for you for taking back control.

I planned my eating so well, but did not have a good contingency plan for being snowed in, being house bound, having too much company, and not being able to keep my exercise up.
and is helping me get my honey’s blog up and running for Jan.1, 2009 which was to be my honey’s big Christmas gift…..
My blood pressure rose and fell at alarming rates, and my blood sugar levels must be high because for 3 days I had a non-stop headache.
On top of it all and 4 180 minute trips to the airport in all this weather ( double the road time with the snow) my IT person let me down…and did not do what I asked of her before she left for Denmark….fortunately I found an amazing substitute IT person for while she is out of the country….and he likes me
Hugs to Blogger Dad – Dave Wright….my hero ! You are awesome guy and don’t be so hard on yourself…put cutie in the stroller and go for a big walk now…fresh air fill those lungs….then get back to the computer ’cause we have a lot to do before Thursday….you are going to sweat off all the extra pounds.
Here’s what my amazing dietitian suggested too: Eat 5 servings of grapefruit (1/2) or whole oranges when you have had a lot of sweets and junk….it will cut the cravings and clean out the system and it also removes quilt and shame!
So far it is working well today.

Thank you.
As for headaches, they can come from low blood sugar and high blood pressure, too. Make sure you keep on top of those!

Exercised every day except Christmas and Sunday and didn’t gain anything — confirmed by the scales at home and at the gym.
I must admit, though, I couldn’t have done it without Karen’s help. It was hard on her, but she resisted doing her traditional holiday baking.
Our oldest daughter, though, wasn’t as helpful. Knowing her mother wasn’t baking, she brought us a bunch of baked treats. Fortunately, though her hubby talked his mom out of sending a plate of goodies like she normally does. Karen saved the day, though. Most of the treats from our daughter are in the freezer, to be doled out in small quantities over the next few weeks.
It should be easier next week with Christmas and New Years behind us.

Congrats to Karen for helping out! Good idea! If that chore were left to me, I would have squirreled the goodies away somewhere for my enjoyment.

It’s not been a good week for me either. I did weigh in Wednesday but didn’t get a chance to post about it because Christmas Eve is insane in our house. It was a good weigh in and since then I’ve blown it all to smithereens. But it’s time to get back on track! And things are back on track (I think) and hopefully Wednesday’s weigh in won’t be too horrible.

Yeah, holidays are a hard time to get in shape, which is probably why so many guilt-ridden people climb back on the wagon on Jan. 1.
