Changes
What will you do today?
I recently wrote about a post about fear over at Blogger Dad, asking if fear is keeping you from living? A reader, Trina, responded to the post, saying that fear was holding her back. The post inspired the anger necessary for her to start a walking routine which she had not done prior.
Meanwhile, back at BlogToFit central, yours truly was sitting on his ass eating junk food. And I thought to myself, something is very wrong here.
I am writing about fitness but I am the last person in the world who should be giving fitness advice.
I’ve talked about this issue a few times here and how it has been difficult to stay motivated. I also talked about how I’ve just been going through the motions lately. So I decided that I need to hold myself more accountable. Publicly. Hence, the changes to this site, which I will detail below.
The biggest of changes will be daily posts each weekday. Tara and I have been so busy with our online work efforts, we’ve barely had time to regularly post or comment here. We created a home which we rarely visit. When you don’t visit your family, you begin to feel guilty and you stop by even less because you can’t bear to confront the fact that you’ve been too busy, a bad blogger, a horrible fitness inspiration, etc…
So the first change is that you can expect daily updates (M-F) from me. The posts will usually be on the short side, sometimes funny, sometimes serious, but will always tell you at least two things.
- What I did today (exercise-wise) and
- what I ate today.
I realize that this isn’t exactly the most scintillating stuff and most people really won’t care what I ate or did. That’s cool. However, others of you may want to use the posts as a way to account for your own actions. Consider this blog your fitness friend.
Wednesdays will still be our usual Wednesday Weigh-In.
Fridays will feature links to some of the best (and worst) diet and exercise or motivational stories of the week.
Additionally, we will reach out to more guest posters to present more voices and experiences.
Before we go, I want to point out the most obvious of changes – the site design. Blog To Fit is now rocking the Frugal theme by Eric Hamm, a super clean and amazingly flexible theme which runs on WordPress. I will be tweaking the site a bit more as I experiment with Frugal’s back end, but I hope the new design breathes as much life into the site as does the content.
Thank you to the loyal readers who have stuck around this long. We look forward to the coming months!

The site looks outstanding!
Daily accountability is the only thing that keeps me going. I’m sure it will work for you as well as give a lot of other bloggers a friendly place to check in.
I really like the last sentence too.

Wow, looks great. I like that there will be happening more. As I am embarking on a diet (and I mean a real diet, with book and shopping list and exercise schedule etc.) today (!!!), I will be a regular. Good to know we are all sitting in the same boat. Let’s hope this ship doesn’t sink. (I think I gained a little…)

Thank you. And no, this ship is not sinking. It may have hit an iceberg or two, but we will steer it to safety.

The place looks great.
I like the BMR tool, very useful. I think knowing stuff like how much your body burns and tracking your intake will be key your success. All readers should try it out.
By the way, I am doing a program that was linked on this site.

Thank you.
Which program are you using? How is it working for you?

It was linked in your Men’s Health section. The author’s of a book that will be called The New American Diet needed volunteers to try out their “diet” for 6 weeks. There is also an exercise program targeting my gut.
The “diet” is more of a lifestyle change than diet. Eating lots of things “organic”.
The workout is tough, but it is making a difference, so I do it.
There are more details on my site.

Site couldn’t fail to improve the moment we lost that big hunk of excess fat, Dave Fowler.
And by hunk, I don’t mean a la George Clooney.
I love the new look DW, and found the picture especially captivating. Almost made me want to go and eat a banana. Almost.

LOL. Come on, the site hasn’t been the same since Dave Fowler left! Do you realize how many ladies (and some men) he attracted with those underwear shots?

Site looks good.
What with being back to work and being a tad sick, I’ve managed to get into a lack-of-exercise rut which I hope will end soon. I might make it to the gym tomorrow.

Thanks, Mike. You are one of the constant regulars which has pushed me to keep this site alive with Tara’s help. Feel better.

The new design looks good. And I like that you’ll be posting more often, even if just short blubs.
I personally am using your blog to force myself to make some of the healthy eating changes I’ve talked about for years but haven’t acted upon until now. It’s working for me. Thanks for the motivational push!

hi there,
tell me, is there a secret on how to leave a comment on your entries? I’ve tried 3 times and comments are always closed. Do I have to register or walk through fire or something to be allowed to leave a comment? Ah go on, let me comment, PLEASE!
