Welcome to Blog To Fit

We're David Wright and Tara Cain, two bloggers who have come together to write about our attempts to lose weight. We're like a team of super heroes, minus the cool costumes, and well, super powers of any kind, except the ability to gain weight by simply being NEAR food.

The Schedule

M-F: Daily diet updates
WED: Blog To Fit Weigh Ins
FRI: Links of the week

Changes

We've made some changes to the site. Read about them here.

Catching Up

Sorry I didn’t update Monday or Tuesday. On Monday I forgot. On Tuesday, just plain busy trying to catch up. Sunday’s birthday dinner was postponed to Wed. (today) because my dad was sick. That didn’t stop me from eating badly on Sunday. I didn’t keep track but let me just say, brownies and fried mozzarella (my favorite hot food!) were involved.

I didn’t walk Sunday or Monday and I felt like crap. Got back on track yesterday, though and will make sure I walk extra tonight following the Big Birthday Dinner!

Food Diary for Tuesday:

Breakfast: Cheerios and 2% milk – 350 calories

Lunch: turkey sandwich, mustard, whole wheat bread – 195 calories

Dinner: white rice, cream of chicken, chicken breast – (est. 450 calories)

Snack: 2 bananas – 210 calories, 1 granola bar (100 calories each) – 520 calories

Total calories 1,515

The weekly weigh-in stats: David Wright

  • Starting weight Wed. Nov.19: 350 lbs.
  • Goal weight: 250 lbs.
  • Weight last week: 329 lbs.
  • Weight today: 328 lbs.
  • Amount lost this week: 1 lbs.
  • Total lost since Nov. 19: 22 pounds

Tara’s Weekly Update:

The countdown is on to our holiday and instead of stepping up the exercise, I’ve had to cut back! How ridiculous I hear you cry, but I’ve got so much work to do so I’m free to, you know pack and float dreamily around the house in a pre-holiday haze, that exercise has had to take a back seat.

That said, I have taken posession of a new personal trainer who I’m hoping will whip me into shape.
OK, so it’s not some athletic gym bunny who’s going to get me jogging up and down my stairs. It’s an EA Sports Active Trainer for the Wii which I’ve been asked to test and, given my history of fitness classes and hate of all fitness videos, I thought it would be an interesting trial.

I’m going to give it a go this week and next, but will probably have to wait until my return to really get into it.
And I think hubby would divorce me if I told him I was taking it away with us . . .

The stats: Tara Cain

  • Starting weight Wed. Nov.19: 168 lbs.
  • Goal weight: 140 lbs.
  • Weight last week: 162 lbs.
  • Weight today: 160 lbs
  • Amount lost this week: -2lb

Starting weight Wed. Dec. 11: 265 lbs.
    Goal weight: 200 lbs.
    Weight last week: 237 lbs.
    Weight today: 235 lbs.
Amount lost this week: 2 lbs.
Total lost since Dec 11: 30 pounds

I’ve never really thought about a goal weight much. I’m a pretty stocky guy at 5′9″. We’ll see what 200 looks like, and go from there. From Mike’s picture, I bet he would look thin at 200.

Still not ready to share the actual numbers, but I will soon…I am back from UK and I did not gain any weight – actually I may even have lost weight as I get all the extra fluids off my knees and ankles from so much sitting on the bus…

Had a wonderful trip and did as much walking as I could and was not hampered by all the rain…picture this at the ATM at St. Ives and a Seagull lets loose – misses the umbrella but covered my pants and my daughters….a lasting memory…I guess the seagulls have an aggression problem there!

Just for note: Eirth Castle in Falkirk has the best SPA! awesome and extremely reasonably priced
    FYI

Nice to see you all here and congratulations Tara, Dave and Turf Dad on your weight loss…

Yay, yay, yay! I l resorted to a diet of dust and lost a pound. Only three more to go. I am so excited.
But don’t you say farewell just yet, as we have another holiday (not really, it’s a wedding) coming up, which happens to take place in Conneticut. We will spend a few days in NY first, visiting our favourite restaurants (I am thinking diner, pile of pancakes soaked in maple syrup with a fried egg on top) before heading to Westport to meet family and friends.
David, I didn’t know you can fry Mozzarella. I see, there’s still a lot to learn.

I made it to the gym twice. With the whacky hours I’m working, plus trying to get some stuff done at home during the week, that’s an accomplishment.

Yes, Turf Dad, at 200 lbs I would look quite thin. Actually, it’s already starting to be noticeable. I’ve had a couple of comments from people at work who hadn’t seen me since the last contract ended in August 2008.

    Started November 1, 2008 at 285.6 lbs
    Last week = 261.0 lbs.
    This week = 261.8 lbs.
    Difference = +0.8 lbs.
Initial goal: 210 lbs.; 51.8 lbs. to go!

Helooouuuuu??? I am back from holiday and expected to have successfully missed the last 2 weigh-ins. And what do I discover? The whole possy seems to have taken time off. So. What have you been up to?

Welcome home, yes I have been coming by often but can not find anyone here. Maybe they are vacationing too?

Did you have a nice time…?
    I enjoyed your pictures.

I am finally starting to loose weight using Julie from Random Meanderings suggestions. Next week I will be back to adding in more exercise. It is exciting to see the weight come off.
I bought a size smaller slacks at Harrad’s in London – that was thrilling!

  8. It’s been awhile since this blog has been updated, so I’m wondering if you folks have given up. I hope not, though I certainly wouldn’t judge any of you if you did. I know it’s very, very hard. My best to both of you.

I am back to my starting weight pre-pregnancy, 125 lbs. Not that anybody would care anymore, boo-hoo.

Cangrats! I wish I was doing as well. My fitness regimen never got back on track after our Colorado trip.
