What’s your favorite healthy snack?
I’ve found that snacking during the day has helped keep me from pigging out late at night. Unfortunately, I’m getting bored with my snacks.
Typically, I eat some nuts and raisins, baked chips when I want something crunchy and whole wheat crackers and semi-sweet chocolate chips when I’m craving sweets.
These snacks are getting boring, though, and I’m searching for a few healthy snacks. I need to find something to appeal to both my sweet tooth and to my salt tooth (is there such a thing? If not, I just coined a term, let’s ride it to popularity!)
So share some of your favorite healthy snacking foods. And if Writer Dad comes in here talking about donuts, I’m going to pound him!
Tara Cain
After yesterday’s post I don’t think it will come as any surprise to tell you that I have lost just 1lb. Again.
At this rate I will be at goal weight in my pensionable years!
It has been snowing here all week and haven’t been able to get out walking as much (mainly because the children are off school and a brisk walk up hills on the ice and snow is not on their ‘to do’ list. Playing in the garden and pelting each other with snow, now that is on their list!)
I’m not too worried, I’ve turned a bit of a corner on the food front and after giving myself a bit of a talking to, I’ve managed to keep to The Plan and stop the bad snacking.
What’s my favourite snack? Chocolate. No no no, I didn’t mean that. Tinned pears have become a hit for some reason, plain popcorn and bananas, which I am eating right now as I type.
The stats: Tara Cain
- Starting weight Wed. Nov.19: 168 lbs.
- Goal weight: 140 lbs.
- Weight last week: 163 lbs.
- Weight today: 162lbs
- Amount lost this week: 1 lb

I’ve had another good week with a 2lb loss. I continued with the 100 Push Up challenge. I’ve also been running – in the snow! I’ve put in two 1.5 mile runs and a longer 30 minute run, I’m not sure of the distance because I took a scenic route for variety. Most of my measurements are down marginally. I’ve made some good food choices, including the odd treat. My new found approach seems to be working!
The stats: David Fowler
Starting weight Wed. Nov.19: 200 lbs.
Goal weight 173 lbs.
Format: Start / Last Week / This Week
- Weight: 200 / 195 / 193
- Amount lost this week: 2 lbs
- Hips: 40 / 39.75 / 39.75
- Waist: 38.5 / 38.25 / 38
- Belly: 40.25 / 40 / 38.75
- Chest: 41.5 / 41 / 40.5
(Weight is in lbs and measurements in inches)

Another good week, continuing my recent trend of shedding multiple pounds. This week, three pounds. This might be the best three week stretch I’ve ever had in attempting to lose weight. I’m feeling a bit sluggish the past few days, though. So here’s hoping I get a burst of energy/inspiration to step things up.
The stats: David Wright
- Starting weight Wed. Nov.19: 350 lbs.
- Goal weight: 250 lbs.
- Weight last week: 334 lbs.
- Weight today: 331 lbs.
- Amount lost this week: 3 lbs.
- Total lost since Nov. 19: 19 pounds

It’s been said many many times but others more knowledgeable than me that weight is not a good indicator and boy are you a poster girl for that Panther!
Great stats!

Colds in the family this week. Gained 1.1 lbs.
Snacks: yogurt (best with a few crunchies like breakfast cereal on top), dried fruit – pears are my fave, low carb tortillas, 1 tbl dark choc chips (savoring it slowly – 70 calories in there so I can’t have more!!!!), seeds (sunflower and pumpkin). Sometimes my coffee is my snack.
Keeping it short today – much to catch up on this week.

Yogs are a great snack, I forget about them sometimes. Haven’t tried with the crunchies but that sounds like a mighty fine idea.

Hey, Homer.

I agree with Sean….. donuts.
That being said, it’s been months since I had one.
Congrats for everyone that has lost weight or are otherwise making progress and special congrats for those who are sticking with it even if it’s a struggle right now. I’ve done this before and been disheartened and ready to quit, but I stuck with it and lost over 75 lbs. Unfortunately, I let that get away from me, which I won’t do again!
I’ve turned the 2 week upward trend around this week and am down a pound.
Thanks to Sean’s and Eric Hamm’s discussion on their Blogopolis Blueprint, I’m moving our blogs to premium themes.

LOL Writer Dad!
Here’s one to try: baby carrots dipped in a small amount of sea salt. You get the goodness of eating a veggie, and the crunch and saltiness of a potato chip.
I love to eat string cheese or the little BabyBel cheeses. Cheese is an excellent snack– the protein and fat content keep you feeling full for longer.

I’ll try that.
I only recently tried string cheese. I’ve never been a fan of cold cheese – I prefer mine melted in mozzarella sticks – but I like the sticks.

My favourite healthy snacks?
Cheese and crackers
Plain Yoghurt + cut up fruit (flavoured yoghurt is full of sugar)
And my newest: Protein shake without protein powder – made of ingredients like cottage cheese, yoghurt, fresh fruit, tofu, unsweetened soya milk, regular milk. May not sound great, but I like it and allows me to have my protein quickly when I don’t have time to endulge in a steak.

Thank you. Cheese and crackers sounds good. I cannot eat yogurt at all. I’ve TRIED, believe me, I’ve tried. I just can’t get past the overwhelming foul taste.

If you think of eating one meal a day but dividing all the parts up in to servings – then I snack. Blueberries for breakfast, yogurt about an hour later after walking, salad greens and dressing about 1pm, and sliced turkey about 4pm and sliced apple with almond butter about 6:30pm.
I am still on soft foods
Last week I gained 11 pounds I am down 1 pound from that jump this week.
never missed my 3 miles of walking, I can proudly report I slept 7 hours Monday night – painfree – hip hurrah…Tuesday was not so wonderful about 4 hours, but pain free…so I think there is hope to recover from this thing.
I am feeling stupid tonight because I still can’t program my email or my remote access on my new email program – and I have called customer support to the limit – I have 2 more calls, I am going going to attempt to do one in the middle of the night with my IT person on a conference call….they are all being nice, but this is so hard.
I am feeling badly because I am not getting a discussion going on my partner’s blog and I write to “pretty” for architects and engineers…
I must be writing mean comments on other blogs….I am feeling insecure
I still love to write…
My body is just another disappointment in the middle of my computer plague…
What if I am meant to be this way until I die?
I don’t like how the pain and my lack of sleep are making me feel – blaming my body now!

I’ve never had blueberries or almond butter. I’ll have to try both.
Sorry for your continued pain. I wish I had the right words to say to make it go away.
As for Tom’s blog, it’s tough to get good discussion going. Are you commenting at blogs similar to his? I will email you on Friday with some advice. I’ll also try and steer some traffic your way, though there’s no guarantee that people who frequent my blog will read both blogs. Heck, not even 1/100th of my comic readers read my daddy blog. The trick is finding people who are already talking about the topics on Tom’s blog. Every now and then you’ll meet someone outside the topic who will also be interested.
Don’t give up hope. Blogs take time to grow well.

Hi all – New to the site, turned onto it by the Urban Panther! Will be checking in and participating on the challenge (although not sharing my stats as freely as you all).
Fave snacks – Fat free chocolate pudding, grapes, 10 almonds, sugar free jello for something different.
