  1. Wow wee DW, that is just brilliant!
Really, it has inspired me to march on and, well, let’s be honest here, I’m really really competative and I can’t have you streaking ahead.
High fives to you my friend!

    David Wright Reply:

Streaking ahead you say? Are you trying to get me to run around naked? Sheesh, we all know Fowler is the beefcake around here.

    [Reply]

    David Fowler Reply:

No! No one is trying to get you to run around naked. You tired it once and look where that got you!

    [Reply]

    Tara Cain Reply:

Hands up who would pay to see the two Daves streak around naked?
    Anyone?
    No?

    Hello . . . . ?

    David Fowler Reply:

Har De Bloody Har Har! I supose you think you’re funny?!

    BTW… LMAO @ ‘Hello?’

    Tara Cain Reply:

    I’d pay.
** Rattle around in pockets ** will £1.52 do it?

    David Fowler Reply:

£1.52 is that all Dave is worth? So how much does that leave for me?

  2. Dave, I’m thrilled for you. You hinted that you’d done well but I thought, 3 or maybe 4 lbs, but 6 lbs is incredible. Well done my friend, that’s a great achievement. :D

  3. WOOT WOOT Trio! Good on ya!

I gained weight. Again. See my Weigh-In post for what I have to see about that. BUT I have lost 1/2 ” from chest (Lion was not happy about that), 1 1/2″ from waist and 1 1/2″ from hips. Here are the stats:

    measurements in pounds and inches

    Weight: 134 /135 1/2 (+1 1/2)

    Hips: 38 /36 1/2 (- 1 1/2)

Lion would probably ask that you selectively lose weight in some areas, while gaining it in others, I take it?

    [Reply]

I feel bad for the Lion. I understand his concern. :D

The trend with the measurements is impressive and the running is going well.

    Brilliant job Panther!

  4. Good job, everyone! I did not go to an official weigh-in last Saturday (seriously we had mind-numbing windchills in the -40F range) and I’ll be out of town for this weekend’s as well. But I know I’m down at least 2 pounds. So we’ll wait and see what the WeightWatchers scale says. Which I’ve come to learn registers 2 pounds higher than my own. I have walked 3x for 20 – 30 minutes outside before my nose froze off. Now today we are supposed to have a high of 34F, so it may be balmy enough to be out more. Congratulations to all on an awesome week of progress!

    LOL at a blamy 34F.

2lbs down is a great result even if it’s not official. I’malso impressed that you braved the elements to get outside. :)

  5. Gained a tiny bit – but am not worried. The bloat weight will be gone soon. Details in the CommentLuv link.

Holy cow Dave W – that’s amazing! Panther your measurements are showing the change. Keep it up! Good Job everyone!

  7. Nice work everyone! Dave Wright, that is fantastic!!! Congratulations. :D

I’ve hit something of a plateau. Most of it because I’ve just lost my drive some how. I’ve stuck with my general eating plan but exercise has been somewhat tossed by the way side and I need to get back too it.

This week I stayed the same – no loss or gain. Holding steady at 276. It’s been the same story for 3 weeks.

    Thanks, Jen.
In the past, when I’ve hit plateaus, I’ve found the best way to spark some fire is to get moving. And by moving, I mean walking. Walking is great. For me, the hardest part has been forcing myself to carve out some time to lace up and hit the streets. But once I’m out there, it’s great.

Added bonus, walking ALWAYS gives me creative energy. The fresh air and change of pace always inspires some story, comic or blog idea.

    Good luck.

    Deconstructing Jen Reply:

Thanks Dave. You are right. I do need to get moving and as you said making the time is the hardest part and I like my me time more than I care to admit. That creative energy you speak of is likely to pull me over the edge – now if I can only figure out how to draw on the tread mill. ;)

Jen, being stuck for three weeks is dispiriting. I donlt know about your own experiences but I often found I would plateau for a few weeks and the my weight wold start to drop again.

As you say maybe the exercise will kickstart it again for you. Here’s hoping :)

Anyway, cling to the fact you havenlt gained. It means you’re eating at maintenance, i.e. not overeating! :D

  9. Way to go, you three!

I might be joining y’all in the weight loss countdown. Very soon. Probably a separate blog from my other one… I’ll let you know.

I’m planning on doing not only watching weight as in pounds, but also measuring my percentage of body fat and lean muscle mass. We’ll see how it goes!

Body fat percentage is a good way to go. I never quite got nto the idea because I didn’t have the patience for using the calliper things and measuring 342 different points on my body. I’m more into guessing body fat percentage which is totally scientifically valid. :D

  10. Great job David!
Unfortunately I had no weight change this week. Although I swear my belly is smaller. So I decided to start tracking my measurements as well.
Tara, I can really relate to your comments about will power. One thing I really paid attention to the last few weeks and have not yet mastered is rewarding myself with treats. I have also noticed how bad I feel after having some of them, physically. Dave, I can think of the most interesting projects, blogs etc while walking.

    Tara Cain Reply:

I’ve tried the reward thing too WHM, so I only ‘allow’ myself a treat if I’ve ‘earned’ it.
And while I haven’t quite mastered it either (I’ve run up the stairs twice, now I can have a treat!) I do find myself questioning my choices which can only be a good thing.
I think the trick is to keep at it and it will eventually come.

    [Reply]

    David Fowler Reply:

I like measurements better than weight. I think it gives a better picture of progress as Panthers stats illustrate.

I too find it difficult to allow myself to have treats. For me it kind of makes them forbidden and that’s just like a red rag to a bull. :)

  11. Congratulations on all the weight lost and steps taken by the Administrator blog group – and Dave 6 pounds is nothing to sneeze at!

I am just back to walking and hope I can get up for swimming tomorrow. I finally slept 9 hours pain free last night – could not roll over yet, but I surely needed the sleep.

Walking and swimming is where I write my blog.

I have been eating little tiny meals to cope with all the pain, but taking so many medications this last week, I am bloated and puffy and look pregnant. The chiropractor apologized for the recovery taking so long….it just does, I am so happy my own team of doctors are all back and I will start weaning myself off these medications for heart/stroke relief which I am not having!…

I did not have the heart to weigh myself….and I could not get to the dietitians or PT because they would not let me drive… chiropractor said I was down 6 pounds since October so I am holding on to that.

I am sure I have 5 pounds of water weight in my face …aargh

It is not hard to stay motivated if you are fighting to stay pain free and functional every minute of the day….boy I sure do miss the endorphin high from exercise…

Right side is pain free….left side is painful – torn ligament or tendon holding stomach in place (stomach feels like a mushy marshmellow with a knife stuck it in) and bruised ribs….

wrote about it in my post today…

Sounds like you’re battered and bruised, but you’re still in the game. So a big hurrah!! for you. :)

Well, I went to be weighed by my surgery’s practice nurse and – ta daa – I’ve lost 2 kilos! That’s a whole pound in real money! Admittedly I’m only weighed once a fortnight but at least that’s something to hold on to. Also – and I’ve got a big grin on my face as i’m typing this – I got into my first pair of size 10 jeans!!! They were donated to me by a formerly skinny friend who has just had a baby, and they are “shudder” bleachwash instead of my usual stonewash, but what the heck! That’s what clothes dye was invented for!!! Woo hoo!

    [Reply]

    Tara Cain Reply:

That is so great to hear your enthusiasm and excitment at your weight loss. Really, it’s what we all need to hear because it’s what we’re all aiming for! (though I don’t think the two Daves are aiming for a size 10 ladies jeans)

    David Fowler Reply:

It depends who’s wearing them. Ba Dum Bum Tsh!

    That’s great going!!

I’m confused about the conversion though?? Aren’t there 2.2lbs to the kilo? Or am I totally misreadintg what you’ve written?

My equivalent to the size 10 jeans would be 32inch waist. It’s ashame I’m never going back there again. I think the best I could hope for is a 34 inch waist. :)

  13. Now that most everyone has done well — well, I’ve slipped back a little. Worked out twice in the last week and gained a pound. Under the weather a bit this last week and too much “comfort” snacking — though it was healthy snacking. (more in my blog post — click on commentluv link)

  14. DW that is absolutely AWESOME! (and, not being American, I reserve my use of that word, for only very special ocassions!
Tara and Dave F – you’re all doing so well. It’s great. Really great.

I didn’t do so well this week. Nothing lost, but nothing gained. But more ashamedly, nothing exercised. I barely even lifted the remote control! The Wii activity fell off in the last week as we’ve just had other boring stuff to do of an evening. I think that is why the pounds have stayed firmly clinging to my hips. That and the huge slice of New York cheesecake smothered in Ambrosia custard I had at the weekend.

I know, my head hangs in shame.

However, I’m sticking to my limit-the-cookies part of my diet and have done well resisting those on an hourly basis and now save the rare cookie crunching for an after dinner treat. And only if I’ve been a good girl that day and not spent a minute on the naughty step!

    So, my stats this week:

    Starting weight: 125lbs (8 stone 9lbs)
    Goal weight: 112lbs (8 stone – pre-babies weight)
Weight last week: As reported, I was 8 stone 7lbs.
Weight this week: 8 stone 7lbs.
    Weight lost: 0lbs.
Exercise: Errr none really. But, does running up and down the stairs 50 times a day, to retrieve small peoples’ never-ending list of items requested, ‘Now Mummy!’count?

    [Reply]

    David Fowler Reply:

It totally counts. The stairs are probably my saviour too.

It sounds like you and manyother might have Wii’s for sale soon. I mean if you’re not using them and you’re just going to chuck them out…..

Staying static is no bad thing, indeed it’s fine. It’s not a race after all. :D

Well, I was weighed again yesterday and I have some bad news and good news. The bad news is I’m still the same weight, but it was my brother’s birthday last week and we went out for a slap up meal. The good news is that I didn’t actually put any more on! Woo hoo!Even after chicken and leek pie, chunky chips, onion rings and home-made chocolate cake afterwards! Double woo hoo! I’m very pleased to say I still get in the size 10 jeans and I only have 2 lbs to go before I get to my target! I’m now rubbing it in my 15 year old son’s face that my waist is smaller than his – he’s nearly 6 feet tall with size 9 feet and wears 34″ trousers!
