  1. Well done to the fab three for getting the year off to a good start and helping to kick us back into shape again! I lost my holiday 1lb this morning which was a motivator so am back on it today. Have just finished dancing round the living room to some loud euphoric dance (bet my little old lady next door loves me!), some weights, tummy stuff and tricep dips off the dining room chair! Bloody knackered now! Off to shower and chant “Toned and Tanned for The Dress, Toned and Tanned for The Dress…”
It’s only four months and one week till The Party and four months and two weeks till a romantic trip to London with possible added bonus of a pair of Manolo’s!! Shoes are the best motivator!

I lost my holiday 1lb? Are you kidding me? You lucky lucky lucky lucky lucky devil.
Either you’ve got good genes or you ate 1 mince pie all Christmas.

Love the idea of you doing tricep dips in the dining room! Now THAT’S dedication.

  2. Good stuff, everyone! Well, I’ve done it. I’ve joined in with a Wednesday Weigh-in post, and the Lion has joined me.

Monday, it was back to the gym, and I have logged 5.5 miles on the treadmill.

I have a new strategy for wine and chocolate (which I am not willing to give up!). ONE glass of wine which I take tiny sips from, and make it last an hour when I get home from work. ONE tiny square of chocolate after dinner which I cut into 3 pieces and savour every morsel of.

@Tara – what is ‘playing tig’? Is that the same as playing tag?

    Welcome!
As for Tara and ‘playing tig’, I am sure she will say that the correct British word is actually TIG and everyone else is getting the Queen’s English all messed up. :)

    David Fowler Reply:

You’re making my mouth water with that description of the wine and the chocolate and I don’t even like wine (though it’s never stopped me drinking it).

Tig is Tag and eve in the UK there’s a north/south divide. It tends to be called Tag where I am in the south.

    5.5miles. Bravo!

  4. I am mildly confused as to whether I was supposed to post my stats here or on my blog but they are on my blog right now. I of course included the button and a link back here. While I know it would have been nice to post a weight loss over the holidays, keeping from gaining weight is a victory in itself!

  5. I’ve done very well over the holidays. Frankly, I’m shocked, though this year was a very, very low-keyed holiday.

I’m down over 10 lbs since I started, but you’ll have to check the commentluv for details — also, unfortunately, I felt the need to include a rather somber message on exercise safety.

    Thanks.

It was very shocking and, though I don’t normally dwell on things, I haven’t been able to get it out of my thoughts for very long this week.

Thank you and welcome to the group. You can come back here and comment on Thursday if you like. We’re kinda’ lenient (and cool) that way. Well, at least I am. That Fowler guy can be a real stickler for rules and such. Must go with his job. :)

  7. No weigh-ins at WeightWatchers since before Christmas. Last Saturday revealed a net gain of 4 pounds. Oh, the humanity. And the champagne. You know it’s not good when the person behind the counter says, “Well, dear, it is what it is.”

Now that’s behind me, I’ve seen downward movement on my own scale, so I expect to be at least at net zero by Saturday and we begin again. The key for me is tracking every single thing that goes down the pipe.

    Good job, everyone!

  8. I am down 2 pounds this morning, but not able to exercise…I have a disk out of place in my spine and the pain is radiating around my side so I thought I was having a heart attack in the middle of the night…Pain is also running up to give me a headache and a rather twisted look…

    I am right where I started at…aargh!

I just can not lay down and sleep the whole night through. Chiropractor doing wonders but it will not stay in place…I would not wish this on anyone…I think getting back to swimming tomorrow will help a great deal…but I am frustrated.

When I eat I feel over full with the tiniest of portions…

My year is August to August with my goal of being the Healthiest in my whole life and I have had pneumonia, super day care virus and now this back pain….I am feeling like I am failing …which is not a good feeling and is zapping my positive energy and momentum…

Wow, sorry you’re in so much pain. Back problems are the worst! I hope you’re feeling better soon. Congrats on the 2 pound loss!

Relax and get better before pushing yourself again. I’d rather be up a few pounds than in terrible pain and slimmer.

    David Fowler Reply:

Ouch! The disk is troublesome to say the least and of course that’s going to have a major impact on your state of mind. I know from experience the when you’re in pain it’s hard to care about ANYTHING else.

You’ve certainly been through the mill, but I have a feeling you’re not beaten yet. You’re far to determined. Keep going Patricia. Keep going. :)

I’m in need of a 100 pound loss. Probably more, to be honest, but I’ll settle for 100 to start things off.
