Out of control
I am out of control. The past week has been a food tornado. As stresses in my life mount, I find myself eating way too much junk.
MM will be pleased to know that I ate even more ice cream sandwiches and drank even more diet soda this week. And here I am writing about what? Losing weight?
I’ve got to tell you, I sometimes wonder why the few who come here keep doing so. I am not leading by a good example and I’m feeling like a fraud half the time. How’s that for motivational content?
I keep searching for whatever motivation pushed me to lose a good chunk of weight when we started this blog. I know Mike Goad will suggest I not search for motivation but simply get my butt out there and do what I need to do. So, thanks Mike, for your past advice. I intend to do just that.
And thank you to the rest who continue plugging away and stopping by.
The stats: David Wright

I have been feeling the same way DW. I think the beauty of this site, however, is that it’s real. We are real people with the real problems of life and show that even though we are intelligent people who know how to lose weight and that the crap we are shovelling in to our bodies is bad for us, we still find it hard to stop.
I have a major major holiday coming up with a whole bunch of swimwear to get into – failure is not an option!
The stats: Tara Cain
- Starting weight Wed. Nov.19: 168 lbs.
- Goal weight: 140 lbs.
- Weight last week: 162 lbs.
- Weight today: 162lbs
- Amount lost this week:0lb

David, you’re naughty! Naughty! Naughty! I sentence you to 200 push-ups. Get down! You are not getting anywhere as long as you don’t drop both of your little friends. Literally. At least you’re being honest. Brownie point for you. But don’t eat it!
Tara, did you know I wanted to be ‘done with it’ for the upcoming vacation, too? Well, I am not. Vacation starts the day after tomorrow, and I will need to go and buy a new bikini, or actually just a new top, as the bottoms are more or less ok (Think Sunday roast kind of piece of meat. Yes, the one with the strings drawn tightly into the flash). At least you are going to the states, where you will be considered underweight next to the average woman. I am going to France and will be considered fat next to the average woman. It’s not fair.
Apart from pushchair-marching, I dropped all my exercises. The chance of little L catching swine flu in the gym creche is just too high. Call me paranoid or hormonal (I am most likely both), but the risk is just too high to be outweighed by a little bit of wellbeing for mummy. We’ll see how the situation is after the vacation. I might need to take up in-front-of-TV exercise. BORING. Also, I am eating more to make sure I am eating the healthy stuff, too. Now for the weigh-in:
Starting weight: 136 pounds
Goal weight: 125 pounds
Last week: 130 pounds
This week: 130 pounds
Pounds lost: 0
How many pounds left to lose: 5

I agree. Just do it!
Made it to the gym two or three times — now that I’m back to work, it’s hard to remember what I’ve done over the last week.
One thing that’s very different is that I’m working a weird schedule. I’m at work by 11:30 most days and get done by 8:00 PM. I either go to the gym before work or do physical labor in the yard. I’m snacking less and my normal meal schedule is disrupted, so I’m eating less and eating more of the right stuff. I bought healthy snacks and raman noodles for at work. So, even though I have no plans to diet, my diet is different from normal three or four days a week.
And I’m losing weight, again.
Started November 1, 2008 at 285.6 lbs
Last week = 266 lbs.
This week = 264.2 lbs.
Difference = -1.8 lbs.
Initial goal: 210 lbs.; 54.2 lbs. to go!

I come hear for the boob talk! (Sorry, I’m not mature enough to keep my mouth shut.)
Hang in there Dave.
I didn’t have time to post this week, but I will say I have started something new. It is something I came across on THIS site. And it will involve pictures, ala Fowler.
I will give details next week for sure.

wow, I am late to the party…I gained .8 of pound standing around in Portland waiting for the biking group to arrive and then a huge and gourmet brunch on Sunday morning to celebrate the birthday boy’s 62 years. I ate carefully and enjoyed the champagne.
I have walked 5.5 miles everyday this week so far and have lost the .8 and am now down another pound this morning. I have to find a new walking routine because the Lake has been taken over by the Fair and I can’t get through – roads closed for the parade…and the Capital Campus is filled with 2 NASA displays one for children and one for adults and then to top it off summer has arrived with a hot vengeance.
You have to just keep getting back on the horse and saying this is what is best for me…this serves me and mine….David every time you crunch into ice cream and diet pop…I want you to hear my voice: “DO I WANT TO SEE E GROW UP?” and “Do I want him to be my size in life?” and have my medical problems because he will do what you do not what you say… You are responsible for this child and his future….he is watching all the time.
I am working on not eating for pleasure but for fuel and health
I am going to be embarrassed in the UK next week to be thought of as the FAT American…which is what it did not want…
Now I have skinned knees and palms from my fall down…and I look like an American slob sister….how disgusting is this?
There is no more – oh I can put it off for me…I am turning 60 next month and my Father only lived to 64 with this disease…
Get a life – not a snack…come on you know what I am talking about…the time is NOW, this moment…
I am not waving my index finger at you… but I am hoping you will get going and be fully your wonderful self.
Tara you will be thin ( well not as thin as Vered) but thinner than most US women I am sure of it…have fun…enjoy don’t worry – it is a waste of time.

I love reading and keep reading because you guys are so real. Every one trying to lose weight will have bad and good weeks, its just important to remember that and not let one week lead you to another bad week and another… erase the week and go into the next with a clean slate and a mind that knows you can succeed. Look at the success you’ve had already! Thats freaking awesome! But if you do want even more help feel free to check out my free DVD on Women’s Workout It’s great for motivation and workouts to burn fat.
