A trip to the doctor’s
I got a letter from my doctor Friday which read, “we need to discuss your test results, please call us for an appointment.”
Since my doctor is closed on Friday, I spent the week pondering the ominous wording. What the hell does that mean?!
It couldn’t be too bad, right, or they wouldn’t send a letter. They would call. Right?
I spent the weekend considering my health sins, the crap I’ve eaten, the exercise I’ve avoided and I worked myself into the certainty that I was going to get horrible news. I hoped the news wouldn’t be too horrible. I began making mental promises to do better, to get back on track, etc… I felt like a drunk suffering a hangover praying to the porcelain Gods to grant them the strength to make it through the day, vowing “never again.”
So I was able to get in to see the doctor today. The big news? That my blood work showed that my blood sugar had gone from 116 to 121 or so.
All my other blood work was great.
I was a bit ticked off that they couldn’t have made it clear in the letter so as not to add to my stress. However, I was relieved that my lack of commitment hadn’t done irreversible damage.
On the downside, I gained three pounds last week, which I think is my biggest week-to-week gain in a long time. It’s been a rough few weeks diet-wise and I need to get back on that elusive track. Because if I don’t, it’s only a matter of time before my doctor has worse news to deliver.

I’ve had a great week exercise wise, so why the diggery devil haven’t I shifted any weight again?
My mother in law keeps telling me she can tell I am losing weight, but then I don’t know if she’s just trying to make me feel better.
I’m off to eat a packet of HobNobs to make myself feel better . . . (kidding).

Well, weight does fluctuate, I seem to go up and down by 3 lbs all the time. And lots of exercise usually means that the weight loss is delayed. Your effort will bear fruits soon I’m sure! Keeping it going is the hardest part, everything else is a matter of time.

I’m at a plateau. Of course, making it to the gym one day out of the last week doesn’t help.
With that, though, my weight is the same as the last two weeks.
I normally go to the gym in the mornings, but it is so hot here right now that if I go to the gym in the mornings, I wouldn’t get anything done at home. So I work outside in the mornings and, by the time afternoon comes, I don’t feel like going to the gym.
Some of what I am doing is physical. However, I’m not getting the exercise that I need to lose weight. I may have to actually consider cutting back on what I eat.

I was naughty for a couple of weeks, but I’m back to no sugar for the last four days. It’s amazing what a difference it makes. It’s difficult at first, but the pounds melt right off and then you start feeling so much better. I haven’t missed my exercises a single day in over two months. That’s the best I’ve ever done in my life.

Please don’t hate me – I lost two points without changing anything. Ahhh, … the upsides of breastfeeding!
Tara, I am sure it will come off eventually. Maybe your body is hanging on to reserves only to let go when it realises you are serious about the weight loss? Hang in there, you are doing great! And now hand over the HobNobs!

Full 6 days of walking the 6.5 miles down hill then up hill at the end. I can tell my clothing is getting a bit looser and 6 pounds of the medicine weight gain is off.
I am drinking all the tea and garlic tincture that is on my list and taking a different kind of supplements with no added fructose or dairy products hidden in. And I am eating the same thing everyday for breakfast and lunch. I am feeling so much better almost on a daily basis – I am feeling empowered – energized and ready to go.
I am having 10 organic cherries everyday as they are just coming into season and 1 cup of fresh organic strawberries too. I skipped the strawberry shortcake on father’s day and that was good and not hard.
I am going to the UK on July 20th and tried to find out about the Crown Jewels and visiting and got an awful porn site…then Dave Fowler gave me the key words = Tower of London and I have a visit there booked. I am very excited about my trip, whereas 2 weeks ago I thought I was so ill and unhealthy I needed to cancel..
My IT will not let me take my laptop so I will keep checking in until departure and when I hit 250 # I will start recording my numbers…soon I hope

cartside – Thanks!
Mike Goad – Do you have access to a pool? That could help provide exercise in the heat? I know the feeling, it is getting hot here in Florida. A 30 minute walk seems to kick my butt.
Stacie – Welcome! Cute avatar, too. Best of luck!
Writer Dad – Congrats on the exercises. Afraid I can’t compete on the no-sugar front, though.
Scrapping Servant – Nope, never heard of the routine. Good luck!
MM – Hey, we all have those weeks where we’re surprised at the loss. Beats the weeks we’re surprised by the gains! Thank you and good luck.
PAtricia – That is a funny story on the Crown Jewels! Wow. I’m surprised Dave Fowler was the one to help you, the jokester he is, I would expect him to send you to a worse site. I guess he behaves with the ladies, though. Glad to see you’re having success of late! Keep at it!

No, I don’t have access to a pool. I’d love to as when I can get to a pool, I’ll spend more time at it than anything else, if there is an area where I can actually swim and it’s not overcrowded with other people trying to beat the heat.
